Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons (and daughters) of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission…” Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1213)

Congratulations on the birth of your child!
The Catholic Christian Community of St. Joseph’s welcomes you, your baby’s godparents, and your family and friends as we celebrate your child’s Baptism. Parents and godparents have the awesome responsibility as well as the joyful opportunity to teach their child the ways of faith. Indeed, parents are called the “first preachers of the faith” (Dogmatic Constitution on the Church).
Where to begin? With prayer! Simply ask God for what you want and need in your own words. Natural times for prayer are mealtimes and bedtime. You may also want to softly say or sing prayers as you feed, diaper, comfort, or play with your baby. These words will calm your child - and you, as well! Our Baptism Prep team will share their thoughts on prayer and so much more at your Baptism Prep session.
We also welcome you to celebrate with our whole parish community each weekend at Holy Mass. As parents, you may be reluctant to bring a young child to Mass out of concern for other parishioners should your baby become fussy or (gasp!) cry. If you like, you can take your baby to the cry room or walk them about the narthex.
Please be assured that we want you to be with us. Experienced parents understand what you are dealing with and let us assure you that the commotion is more troubling to the parents than anyone else. Your family’s presence reminds us of the vibrancy of our parish. We’re glad you’re here!
May you be Blessed for your commitment to bring your child up in the practice of the faith. The community of St. Joseph’s is here to assist you throughout your journey of faith!
Baptisms are every Sunday at 12:30 PM. The number of infants baptized will be limited to three (3) each Sunday.
